Keibunsha is a publisher of fine arts and humanities books. From the 1980s through the 2000s, they published excellent tattoo books and magazines that are still favored by artists to this day. With titles such as Horiyoshi's World, Horihide's World, Japanese Tattoo Ladies, Tattoo Designs of Horicho and many more, the publishing giant started publishing compact magazine books (mooks) in the 2000s under the name Shisei Zekka Soran (刺青絶家叢書). Eventually they compiled all the best photographs of Japanese traditional tattoos from those travel companions into three volumes - 1000 Japanese Tattoos.
Volume 3 has over 500 photographs of high-quality, full-color Japanese tattoos. Index with glossary of artists, shops and commentary of tattoo designs is provided in both Japanese and English.
