Go Nagai is one of the most influential mangaka still active to this day. Active since the 1960s in magazines like Weekly Shonen Sunday and Kodansha's regular rotation publications, Go Nagai is most notable for his series that fuse science fiction and fantasy with real-life Japanese history. Black Lion, first published in the 1970s, is one such tale. Set in the 16th century, plenty of Go Nagai's supernatural signature style and sci-fi machinery is present.
