Figure Paintings from the Edo Period - The Beauty, Power, and Eccentricity of Human Figures
Held between March and May of 2011 at the Fuchu Art Museum, this collection of figure paintings from the Edo period focused on people. Because the Edo period lasted from early 17th century to more than 250 years, many different styles, cultures and environments are shown, including Japan in a new global era. A total of 99 works are featured here in the book, from artists Jakuchu Ito, Soga Shohaku, Katsushika Hokusai, and dozens more.
