Jiro Taniguchi might not be one of the most well-known artists in his own country, but he made quite a name for his stories and art in France. With titles like Summit of the Gods and K, it's clear to see Taniguchi's inspiration is drawn heavily from nature and especially mountaineering. Although he briefly worked under Ken Ishikawa, Jiro Taniguchi is very much his own artist with a style not typically found in Japanese comics. Realistic people and landscapes make his stories come to life, and Into the Forest is another such tale. Set in the Himalayas and following a hunter and his dog, this is classic Taniguchi at his very best.
