Ito Jakuchu was an 18th century painter from Kyoto, specializing in animals and plants. He is most known for his chickens and roosters, often posing and dancing in very rhythmic scenes. But the painter was quite fond of numerous other types of birds seen throughout Japan, as well as fish, snakes and sea plants. This nice collection of paintings was put together by Shogakukan in 2000.
