Throughout the 70s and 80s, drama and mystery comics were becoming increasingly more popular in Japan. One such artist and writer was Tooru Shinohara, who wrote comics like Female Swordsmith Sayaka and Zero Woman (lots of female protagonists). Some of his stories have even become movies, showing the power in which these small comics played on the culture.
