Bonten Taro was Japan's Showa era Renaissance Man. After the war, he was artistically involved in many different scenes, like underground adult comics, tattooing, fashion design, movies and more. To say that he's left his mark on the world in various different artistic ventures is quite an understatement. He published his own tattoo books with work by masters like Yokosuka Horihide, Horiyoshi I and II (Yokohama), Horiyoshi II (Tokyo), Horicho and more.
His influential comics, like Rika: The Mixed Race Girl and Sex & Fury, were so wildlly popular that they were turned into movies. Publisher Bonten Gekigakai has dedicated their library of releases to Bonten Taro's life work in comics, and the Mixed Girl Rika collection is four volumes of comics, each being well over 600 pages!
