Kazuichi Hanawa has had quite an impressive background in illustrations and cartooniing. Active since the 1970s, he was a regular contributor to magazines like Monthly Afternoon, Manga Action, Garo and Ax, among others. In 1988 he collaborated with Suehiro Maruo to release Bloody Ukiyoe, a modern take on classic bloody prints by artists like Yoshitoshi. In the 1990s he was arrested and sentenced to three years prison for modifying model guns, which is something a lot more common and accepted now than back in the 1990s. This time in prison inspired the comic Doing Time later on.
Red at Night was originally published in 1985; this is the 1994 printing.
