In the 1980s, SM Select evolved into their deluxe size for regular issues. Interior artwork by the likes of Yoji Muku, Hiroshi Aiba, Hiroshi Kirioka, black-and-white and full-color nude model galleries. SM Select was a highly popular and influential bondage and erotic art magazine during the 1970s, and eventually paved the way for many more in the coming decades.
